Oxfordshire County Council refreshed its energy strategy in 2016 and set itself a stretching target for carbon reduction. This is to reduce carbon emissions from its buildings and activities by 3% per year, in line with the UK’s Climate Change Act. A series of measures, such as installing LED lighting, new boiler controls and running a new behavioural change programme for staff are helping meet this target. The Council has been able to directly track the impact of installing LED lighting. This is now providing annual savings of over £2,300. The savings would be higher, but County Hall now has more people in the building and longer opening hours.
Follow the council’s example and let your business benefit with achievable savings of up to 80%
